Step6TheGrammar:定语从句

(1)定义:在复合句中,修饰名词和代词的从句叫定语从句。被修饰的名词和代词叫先行词。

Eg:Thisisthepresentthathegavemeformybirthday.

(2)引导定语从句的关系词有that(指人/物)which(指物)who(指人)

(3)定语从句分限定性定语从句和非限定性定语从句。非限定性定语从句是对先行词所做的附加说明,它同主句的关系不是十分密切,即使省了,并不影响主句意义的明确或完整。非限定性定语从句一般用“,”与主句隔开。引导非限定性定语从句的关系代词不可省略,that不能引导非限定性定语从句。

区分produce和make

二者用作动词作“制造”、“生产”讲时,可互换使用。如:

make为普通用语,意思为“做”、“建造”、“生产”,主语多为人,有时也可能是生产物品的某个地点。如:

Shemakeacakeforus.(她给我们做了一个蛋糕。)(主语是人)

Theshopmakesshoes.(这家店铺生产鞋子。)(主语是某个地点)

produce为正式用语,意为“生产”、“产生”、“制造”,其主语可以是人,也可以是物或某个地点。如:

does在句中表强调,可写成Ithasafewgoodfeatures,though.

though即可以作副词也可以作连词,在这里用作副词,放在句尾作连词用时,放在句首或句中,但不能与but连用。

这个句型是这单元我们重点接触的一个语法项目,你观察两个句子,看看有什么区别:

一本有趣的书

aninterestingbook形容词interesting做定语修饰名词book

abookthatisinterestingthatisinteresting这个句子做定语修饰名词book

interesting/thatisinteresting作用是相同的,都是用作定语来修饰名词book,我们把这种在复合句中修饰名词或代词的从句叫做定语从句。再如:

一位漂亮的女孩

agirlwhoisbeautiful从句做定语(girl是先行词)

等于abeautifulgirlbeautiful是形容词做定语

一本有趣的书

abookthatisinteresting从句做定语(book是先行词)

等于aninterestingbook形容词做定语

复合句中,修饰某一名词或代词的从句叫做定语从句。定语从句要跟在所修饰的名词或代词后面,被定语从句修饰的名词或代词叫做先行词。定语从句一般用关系代词who,that,which和whose来引导,放在从句的句首使从句与主句相连,并在句中担当一定的成分,关系代词如果在从句中作主语就要用主格,如果做宾语就要用宾格,如果做定语就要用所有格。

music作先行词,thatIcandanceto是定语从句修饰music,其中,that是关系代词引导定语从句

Who/that在定语从句中做主语时,需要注意的是谓语动词的单复数应与先行词保持一致。例如:
