句中的explain是及物动词,意为“解释;讲解;说明”。可接从句作宾语。例如:

Couldyouexplainwhyyouleft?你能解释你为什么离开吗?explain还可以作不及物动词,意为“解释;说明”,常与介词about连用。向某人说明/解释某事:explainsthtosb.

例如:Youhavetoexplainaboutit.你得解释这件事情。

常用结构为“sb.+spend+时间/金钱+(in)doingsth.”意为“某人花……时间/……金钱做某事”,其主语是人。例如:Theyspenttwoyearsbuildingthisbridge.他们话两年的时间建这座桥。

sb+spend+时间/金钱+onsth.意为“某人花……时间/……金钱做某事”,后接名词(短语)。例如:Wespendhalfanhouronhomeworkeveryday.我们每天花半小时做作业。

链接:Ittakessb.+时间+todosth.意为“做某事花了某人多少时间”,其中it为形式主语,真正的主语是后面的不定式。

例如:IttookhertwohourstoflytoBeijing.飞往北京花了她两小时。

“cost+(sb.)+金钱”意为“花了某人多少钱”,其主语是物。例如:

Thisdresscostme200yuan.这条裙子花了我200元。

pay作为“花费”解时,其主语必须是人,常用短语“sb.+pay+金钱+forsth.”,意为“买某物花了多少钱”。此处for是‘交换’的意思。

例如:Ipaidlittlemoneyfortheticket.我买票没花多少钱。
