情态动词本身有一定的词义,为谓语动词增添情态色彩,表示说话人对有关行为或事物的态度和看法,认为其可能、应该或必要等。我们学习过的can和may都属于这类词。情态动词无人称和数的变化,情态动词后面接的动词需要原形,否定式是在情态动词后面加not,当我们想表达可能发生某事以及可能做某事时,可以用may/might表示。例如:

might与may没有太大的区别,形式上might是may的过去式,但在表示将来的可能情况时,might表示的可能性比may表示的可能性还要小。例如:
